DUPLICATE CONTROL METHOD FOR ATM EXCHANGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of an ATM exchange by allowing an active ATM exchange to process SVC signaling information received by the active ATM exchange in a form of structure capable of being reproduced by a standby ATM exchange and sending the processed information to the standby ATM exchange every time the active ATM exchange receives new SVC signaling information. SOLUTION: The function of an adjacent ATM exchange or a virtual adjacent device mapping the ATM exchange is provided in a standby system of an ATM exchange 11. An ATM exchange software 30 of an active system processes SVC signaling information (call information) received from a line 21 into processing information consisting only of information required for path setting that is reproduced by the standby system by using a call processing module of the active system and transfers the processed call information to the virtual adjacent device. The virtual adjacent device reproduces the call information from the processed call information and gives the reproduced call information to a call processing module of the standby system. Thus, the active system and the standby system use ATM connection information in common so as to improve the reliability when the ATM exchange 11 is used for a component of a backbone communication network.
