PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the initial activity and provide sufficient battery capacity by using a hydrogen-storage alloy which is coated with a porous nickel thin film and has a specified specific surface area for a hydrogen-storage alloy electrode. SOLUTION: A hydrogen-storage alloy whose surface is coated with a porous nickel thin film and which has 0.20cm<2> /g or higher specific surface area measured by BET method is used for this hydrogen-storage alloy electrode. Consequently, a lot of active nickel appears while being dispersed in the surface of the hydrogen-storage alloy and the initial activity is improved in the case the hydrogen-storage alloy is used as an anode and especially, in the case a Laves-phase hydrogen-storage alloy with low initial activity is used, the initial activity is remarkably used and a sufficient battery capacity can be obtained from an initial stage. |
