PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain an ester useful for synthesis of a reactive monomer and oligomer or a photo-setting polyester, etc., by reacting a carboxyl group-containing compound and an epoxy groupcontaining compound in the presence of crown ethers. CONSTITUTION:A carboxyl group-containing compound (e.g. polyester) and an epoxy group-containing compound (e.g. ethylene oxide) are subjected to esterifying reaction at 50-250 deg.C in a solvent such as benzene using crown ethers as a catalyst to afford an ester compound. As the catalyst, dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 is exemplified and 0.0001-1.0wt.% is added. |
