<p>An image processing apparatus for outputting desired output data obtained by looking up a look-up table on the basis of input data which represents each pixel value of an input image and has an M (M is an integer of not less than 2) bit width, and converting the input data includes an input compression unit and look-up table. The input compression unit divides the input value range of the input data into a plurality of input sections having individual compression ratios, and outputs compressed data compressed at the compression ratio of an input section to which the input data belongs. The look-up table stores in advance desired output data obtained by converting original input data for all obtained compressed data, and outputs, as desired data, output data corresponding to the compressed data output from the input compression unit. The compression ratios of the respective input sections are assigned to logarithmically increase in accordance with the values of input data belonging to the respective input sections. <IMAGE></p> |
