PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as a photobase-generating agent for photoresists, etc. SOLUTION: This compound is expressed by formula I [(m) is 5, 6; (n) is 0-2], e.g. NN-(2-nitrobenzyloxycarbonyl)pyrrolidine. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting N,N'-carbonyldiimidazole with 2-nitrobenzyl alcohol and subsequently reacting the reaction product with a cyclic amine of formula II. The 2-nitrobenzyl alcohol and the cyclic amine of formula II are used in amounts of 0.95-1.0 mole and 1-1.5 moles, respectively, per mole of the N,N'- carbonyldiimidazole. Since the compound of formula I generates a secondary cyclic amine, is high in basicity and is small in nucleophilicity, the compound of formula I can give photoresists good in performances. |
