<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for monitoring the sound formation of a back bead in laser welding. SOLUTION: In the method for monitoring the condition of butt welding in which a material 1 to be welded is irradiated with a laser beam 4 from one side of the abutting part of the material; the light of plasma 6 generating on the other side of the material 1 by the irradiation of the laser beam 4 is measured by plural sensors 9a, 9b arranged on that side; with the relative value determined for the measurement obtained from these sensors 9a, 9b, the welding condition is thereby monitored. In addition to the plural sensors 9a, 9b, plural infrared sensors are also arranged on the other side of the material 1 so as to measure an infrared ray; with the relative value determined for the measurement obtained from these infrared sensors, in addition to the other relative value from the sensors 9a, 9b, the welding condition is more precisely monitored.</p> |
