<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cartridge changer by which a plurality of cartridges are replaced within a prescribed size by a method wherein an arbitrary cartridge can be selected and, when a housing rack is turned around its shaft, it can be moved to a direction parallel to a face on which a first rack is faced with a second rack. SOLUTION: A cartridge conveyance means 5 is arranged at the front of a housing rack 3 and that of a drive 2 for recording and reproducing, and a cartridge is conveyed between the rack 3 and the drive 2. When the means 5 takes out the cartridge from the rack 3, the cartridge is taken out only from a side faced with the means 5 out of a first rack 3a and a second rack 3b. When the cartridge is taken out from the other rack, the rack 3 is turned by 180 deg. around a shaft 13 which is passed through nearly the center of the housing rack, and the other rack is set to a state faced with the means 5. The housing rack is turned (in aθdirection) around an axis passing through the shaft 13, and the rack 3a and the rack 3b can be moved to a direction (in the X-direction) parallel to a face on which the rack 3a is faced with the rack 3b.</p> |
