PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the liquid crystal display device which is made smaller by only deforming a light guiding plate. SOLUTION: A light guiding plate 6 is constituted of a main section 6A corresponding to the display section of a liquid crystal display panel 2 and the light guiding section defined by the region from the section 6A to a base edge surface 6C of the plate 6. A center line b of the section 6A is shifted in one of the width directions of the plate 6 for a prescribed amount with respect to a center line a of the light guiding section. A fluorescent tube 7 is arranged in the surface 6C side of the plate 6. Moreover, the surface 6C of the light guiding section is faced to the entire region of the light emitting portion excluding tip parts 7A and 7B which are the dark sections of the both tip parts of the tube 7. The end face of an electrode section 7B of the right side of the tube 7 is placed on the extension line of a right side edge section 6E of the plate 6. |
