PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain chopped strands of carbon fiber excellent in converging properties and converged by a seizing agent resistant to heat deterioration of a matrix resin during molding, and a resin composition using the same. SOLUTION: The chopped strands of carbon fiber have the following characteristics: an amount of stuck sizing agent is 1-7wt.%, a percentage loss of weight Y(%) when the chopped strands are heated in air from 25 deg.C to T deg.C (50 deg.C/min. rate of raising temperature) is expressed by the formula and an equilibrium moisture content is 0.05-0.3% when allowed to stand in an atmosphere having 25 deg.C temperature and 65% relative humidity. The formula is Y<0.00251T<2> -1.1326T+133.143, Y(%)=100×(loss of weight of the chopped strands/degree of adhesion of the sizing agent), T is >=250 deg.C and <=350 deg.C. |
