<p>A method and an associated apparatus for the dimension checking of the timing system of an internal combustion engine, in particular for checking the clearance existing between the cams (26-33) of the camshaft (25) and the relevant valves (3-3VII) in the cylinder head (2), by dimensional measurements of the cylinder head (2) and the camshaft (25) separately, and processing in a storing, processing and display unit (16). More specifically, the method comprise the processing of the results of the dimensional measurements for evaluating how the camshaft (25) actually positions itself with respect to the cylinder head (2) on which it is mounted, in the course of the normal running of the engine.</p> |
