The invention concerns a device for sensing the angular position for controlling a synchronous motor excited by a permanent magnet. The sensing device comprises a computing circuit (40) including measuring means (41) for determining the voltage Vu of a given phase U, first subtracting means (44) for deducing from the voltage Vu determined by the measuring means (41) a magnitude (C1) corresponding to the drop in the resistive voltage on the resistor (Rm) of the winding considered to have been passed through by a current iu, means for integrating (42) the signal derived from the first subtracting means (44), second subtracting means (47) for deducing from the signal derived from the integrating means (42) a magnitude (C2) corresponding to the drop in the inductive voltage on the inductor (Lm) of the winding considered to have been passed through by the current iu, and a comparing circuit (43) for sensing the crossovers of the sinusoidal signal of the rotor flux derived from the second subtracting means (47) and thus supplying the information signal locating the angular position with respect to the stator. The device for sensing the angular position avoids the use of sensors with Hall effect or of the inductive type.
