A method for purifying or preparing a moist phospholipid (PL) separation column for phase transfer chromatography (PTC), consisting of a silicon dioxide carrier, PL absorbed on the carrier and excess PL, involves eluting the excess PL with oligo-ethylene glycol (I) to obtain a column free of excess PL. An analogous method is claimed for purifying or preparing a moist PL-surfactant (ST) separation column (preferably for PTC), consisting of a silicon dioxide carrier, PL absorbed on the carrier, optionally excess PL and nonionic ST, involves eluting the ST with (I) to obtain a column free of ST and excess PL. Also claimed is a method for purifying aqueous PL/ST mixtures, involving (a) adding (I) to the mixture, (b) extracting PL from the obtained suspension with an ether (II) and separating the obtained aqueous and (II) phases, (c) concentrating the ether phase, treating with acetone, precipitating PL, separating PL from the solvent phase and purifying PL chromatographically and (d ) treating the aqueous phase from stage (b) with a hydrophobic solvent (III), isolating ST as a separate phase and purifying ST chromatographically.
