Miniaturised, membrane-covered, electro-chemical, gas analysis sensor

The sensor, for definition of gases or gases dissolved in liquids, uses an ammeter or galvanometer type sensor with operating (12), counter (10) and possibly protection electrodes within an outer glass housing, which is separated from the substance being analysed by a gas permeable membrane. The space between the glass wall and operating electrode (Aae-gw) as well as the space between operating electrode and membrane (Aae-m) characterise the reaction volume which has a truncated cone shape with the following dimensions Aae-m = 0 to 35 microns and Aae-gw less than 1 micron. The diameter of the membrane at the inner side of the sensor is 1 to 20 microns. The diameter of the operating electrode is 5 to 25 microns.
