PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a measuring apparatus, for specific gravity, by which the specific gravity can be measured precisely even when a difference exists between a temperature in the air and a temperature in a liquid. SOLUTION: The weight (Wa ) in the air of a sample 4 is measured by an electronic force balance 1 so as to be sent to a control part 7, and a temperature (ta ) in the air is measured by a thermometer 3 so as to be sent to the control part 7. An up-and-down drive part 5 is operated by a control signal from the control part 7, a support base 6 is raised, and the whole part of the sample 4 and the thermometer 3 are immersed in a liquid in a water tank 2. The weight (Wb ) of the sample 4 and a temperature (tb ) in the liquid are measured so as to be sent to the control part 7. The control part 7 judges whether the temperature (ta ) in the air is equal to the temperature (tb ) in the liquid or not, and a specific gravity value is computed immediately. When they are different, the volume of the sample is corrected by using a volume change rate (α), and the specific gravity value is computed.
