PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject lightweight nonwoven cloth, easily removable of dirt, having excellent wash resistance and useful for clothing, etc., by napping a specific cotton spun lace nonwoven cloth under a specific condition. SOLUTION: This cotton spun lace nonwoven cloth is obtained as follows. A web is formed with cotton fibers and interlaced in a high-pressure water stream to obtain cotton spun lace nonwoven cloth having 0.50 mm thickness, 100gem<2> fabric weight and 0.018g/cc bulk specific gravity, each having a minimum value. Then, the nonwoven cloth is dipped in a polymer compositional solution to make the nonwoven cloth have increased water resistance and strength, and a weight fraction of attached solid content after drying to the nonwoven cloth is made within the range of 3-10%, thus swelling of the cotton fibers to water is suppressed, interlacing of the fibers are kept and dimensional stability to water is improved. The resultant nonwoven cloth is subjected to a wet rubbing process such as water stream rubbing by a jet dyeing machine or stir-rubbing, etc., by a wince, etc., by using normal temperature water or heated water, and further, subjected to a dry rubbing process by a tumbler or a rubbing machine, etc., in dried state or after drying to make the nonwoven cloth be softened, then the surface is made to have short hair-like naps. |
