DRINK WELL CLOSURE FOR AN ANIMAL WATERER

A waterer including a drink well with an upper stop which engages and limits the upward movement of a buoyant closure. Projections are provided extending down from the stop or extending out from the closure to space portions of the closure a predetermined distance from the stop. This spacing allows water falling from thedrinking animal's mouth to pass back into the drink well. This minimizes the amount of water at the juncture of the closure and the stop, and therefore minimizes the problem of the closure freezing in the closed position. Also, since portions of the closure are maintained adjacent to the stop, cold air contact with the water supply and loss of heat energy to the atmosphere are minimized.
