摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To broaden a signal transmission band by adjusting the wavelength and light output of an exciting light source and setting the Raman amplification band to respective exciting light wavelengths so as to include all of signal light wavelengths. SOLUTION: Wavelength synthesizing couplers 12-1, 12-2 are arranged at both ends of an optical fiber transparent path 11 for transmitting the signal light of a wavelength &lambda;s. The exciting light source 13-1 which outputs the exciting light of a wavelength &lambda;p1 is connected to the wavelength synthesizing coupler 12-1 and the exciting light source 13-2 which outputs the exciting light of a wavelength &lambda;p2 is connected to the wavelength synthesizing coupler 12-2. When &lambda;p1<&lambda;p2 is set, the Raman amplification bands to the respective exciting light wavelengths are formed to the different wavelength bands corresponding to the wavelength difference between &lambda;pl and &lambda;pe. Then, the Raman amplification band may be made wider so as to include the signal light wavelength &lambda;s by selecting adequately &lambda;p1 and &lambda;p2.
