A femoral prosthetic piece for the hip comprises a femoral rod (1) extending along a longitudinal axis (2) of the rod, a head adapting piece (4) provided with a Morse cone (9), and a spherical head (10) adapted by being clamped on the Morse cone (9). The Morse cone (9) axis (11) is in a plane substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis (2) of the femoral rod (1) and offset with respect to the said rod axis according to an appropriate anteroposterior offsetting distance (D). The head adapting piece (4) can be positioned on the femoral rod (1) in two different positions. By turning round the adapting piece (4) and interchanging the heads (10), the laterality and the length of the member is adjusted without interfering with the anteroposterior offset.
