In the case of a sliding door the door panel (1) is suspended on rollers on a rail in a top assembly. Electrical components within the door used communicate with frame based units via an electrical contact system. This system consists of a sliding contact (92) on the door and a contact rail (91) that runs the width of the door frame in the area of a strut to drive the door. The arrangement is also adapted for use with hinged doors.
