Actuation and indication device for washing machine program selection switch

The device has contactless actuation transfer between a pref. rotary actuating knob (1) at the front and a control unit (3;6) at the rear using the magneto-resistive effect. An LCD field (4) is arranged between the actuating knob and control unit as a background indicator for the actuating knob. The field directions of magnets (2) are varied by changing the setting of the actuating knob. A magnetic field sensor (3) mounted at a distance from and not in contact with the magnets operates contactlessly. The LCD field is mounted in a plane between the actuating knob and magnets on one side and the magnetic field sensor on the other.
