Vehicle cable steering system

The cable steering system consists of two cable strands (5,6) composed of inner elements (cables) riding in outer elements (cases). A drive is connected rotatably to the steering wheel as well as a follower (4) in turn rotatably connected to the gearing (3) used to steer the wheels. All these elements are coupled to each other to ensure that any turn of the steering wheel is transferred by the strands to the gearing (3). The drive and follower roller etc are arranged in bores in the housings (2,4). Opposing ends of the cable cases are held slidably in these bores. Springs are provided to tension the cable cases in these same bores of the respective housings, using coil springs to sit freely on the cable exteriors. One end of the spring adjoins a spring in the respective housing bore as opposed to the far end of the spring which seats on the end of the respective cable case. Additional components include the track rods (8L,8R) for the wheels (WL,WR).
