The pump supplies a fluid to a consumer. Pressurized fluid returned by the consumer is used to charge the suction area (29). The returned fluid can be fed into a pressure chamber (33). This may have an outlet (35,35a,35b), opening to the suction area of the pump (1), which is smaller than that of the channel supplying the fluid. The suction chamber is in fluid connection with a suction connection (27), to take the fluid from a tank. The profile of the suction chamber may be larger than that of the outlet. The outlet opens directly into the suction connection.
