Pump system for medical use

The system comprises one or more chambers for the medium to be pumped which are bounded by membranes and which have at least an inlet and an outlet and which are deformable. The membranes are acted upon by either internal or external forces which force the medium through the outlet. The medium can be totally or only partially taken up into a further chamber which can have a constant volume and which can enclose partially or totally the first chamber. A defined volume or mass of fluid is injected into the outer chamber such that when the inner chamber is activated to displace its contents, there is an equal reaction in the outer chamber to displace the fluid required to be applied in the process.
