PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new complex having high proliferation activity resistance, antiviral activity and nonimmunogenicity, useful for treating and preventing neoplastic diseases and infectious diseases, comprising a polyethylene glycol having a specific structure and an interferon. SOLUTION: This new physiologically active polyethylene glycol (PEG)- interferon α (IFNα) complex is shown by formula I (R and R' are each a lower alkyl; X is NH or O; (n) and (n') are each an integer to adjust the sum to 600-1,500). The average molecular weight of the PEG unit in the complex is about 26,000-66,000 dalton. The complex has high proliferation activity resistance, antiviral activity and nonimmunogenicity and is useful in a medicine composition for treating and preventing neoplastic diseases and infectious diseases. The complex is obtained by reacting an N-hydroxysuccinic acid imide ester derivative of PEG shown by formula II with interferon α. |
