A computer system and a control method thereof for changing performance mode are provided to improve the user's convenience by changing the performance mode into an optimized mode suitable for the work environment by one time click. A process performing unit(110) performs processes of a plurality of programs. A user input unit(120) inputs a command of a user to select one performance mode in multiple performance modes. If the user command is inputted, a control unit(130) controls the process performing unit so that any process of one program in the plural programs being executed is performed as the priority order corresponding to the performance mode which is selected by the user. The process performing unit performs the processes of the plural programs according to the priority order. And the process performing unit executes an OS which provides an API(Application Programming Interface) capable of changing the priority order. The control unit is able to change the priority order of any program by using the API.
