PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the safety and prescribability of a medical article. SOLUTION: In a method for treating the surface of a medical article with a gas cluster ion beam generated by ionizing a cluster of elements or molecules that are in gaseous form at a room temperature at an atomospheric pressure, the surface of the medical article molded from a polymer or metal is irradiated with gas cluster ions to reform or process the surface of the article.
