PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent film cracks from being generated by first laminating a biaxially oriented film of polyethylene terephthalate resin with a specific range of crystallinity to a metal sheet and melting/hardening the laminate by quenching, and further, fabricating this metal sheet coated with an amorphous and nonoriented polyester layer obtained by the described manner for the manufacture of cans. SOLUTION: Biaxially stretched films 1a, 1b of a copolymer polyester resin composition consisting mainly of an ethylene terephthalate unit are laminated on a metal sheet 2, and the laminate is hardened by quenching after melting to obtain the film-coated metal sheet, for can fabrication, consisting of the substantially amorphous and nonoriented polyester films 1a, 1b and the metal sheet 2 to which the former is laminated. The amorphous and nonoriented polyester films 1a, 1b to be laminated on the metal sheet 2 are such that the crystallinity after thermal treatment at 200 deg.C for 10min. is 10vol.% or less and the crystallinity of the biaxially stretched films 1a, 1b before being laminated to the metal sheet 2 is 20vol.% or more. |
