PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code reading device capable of effectively using the packaging area of a substrate despite of using the existing parts and miniaturized in device size as a whole. SOLUTION: In the bar code reading device 10, a communication module 31 for performing communication with a host and a read confirm LED 21 for confirming that a bar code is restored at a decoding part are horizontally disposed in the short side direction of the device at the front end part of a circuit board 18. Thus, the packaging area of the circuit board 18 is effectively used comparing with the case where the communication module 31 and the read confirming LED 21 are vertically disposed in the longitudinal direction, moreover, the length of the bar code reading device 10 in the longitudinal direction is shortened and the device is miniaturized. |
