A method and an apparatus for reproducing discontinuous AV(Audio Visual) data are provided to prevent data reproduction from being stopped during a scene change by performing a smooth scene change without a rapid audio change, thereby providing a user with a better viewing and listening environment. A method for reproducing a plurality of pieces of discontinuous AV(Audio Visual) data comprises the steps of: controlling a graphic plane for fading out video output, for a first predetermined period of time before reproduction of a first AV data is completed, and controlling an audio output for fading out the volume of audio output, for a third predetermined period of time before reproduction of the first AV data is completed(704); controlling the graphic plate for fading in the video output, for a second predetermined period of time after reproduction of a second AV data is started, and controlling the audio output for fading in the volume of the audio output, for a fourth predetermined period of time after reproduction of the second AV data is started(706,708).
