PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily decrease the number of input pins, to simplify the circuitry, and to reduce the size on the whole of a display by previously setting six display patterns and suitably combining these display patterns to express numerals. SOLUTION: LED elements groups 10 of a dot matrix comprises 23 pieces of LED elements exclusive of 2 rows and 1 column and 2 rows and 3 columns in a 5×5 (5 rows 5 columns) dot matrix. At the time of expressing the numeral from 1 to 4, 6 ways of the display patterns are previously set and the respective numerals from 1 to 4 are composed and displayed by combining 6 ways of these display patterns. When a switch SW1 is operated to be turned on in order to display, for example, the numeral '1', the pattern (2) is selected through diode connecting parts 32 and the pattern (3) is selected through diode connecting parts 33. As a result, the specific LED elements are lighted and the numeral '1' is displayed.
