The valve for the control of drinking water in a distribution installation, consists of a seat (6) and a mobile plate valve (14), between a closed position where it rests against the seat and an open position where it is away from the seat. There is a flange (8), arranged to force the plate valve against the seat and which is solid with a operating rod (9) of the plate valve. There is a counter pressure chamber (16) provided between the plate valve and the flange. The plate valve is provided with an orifice (17) which communicates between the chamber (16) and the admission port (2) of the valve.
