An air cleaning catalyst for removing harmful substances such as volatile organic compounds and formaldehyde contained in air by revealing a catalytic effect even in a light-free space is provided, and a method for preparing the air cleaning catalyst is provided. An air cleaning catalyst as a Ti-P-Ge composite catalyst is prepared by mixing Ti and P with Ge at a weight ratio of 100:1 to 1:1, the Ti and P being used at a weight ratio of 10:1 to 1:10. A method for preparing an air cleaning catalyst comprises impregnating a TiO2 powder as Ti metal with ammonium phosphate or phosphoric acid as a phosphorous component; impregnating the TiO2 powder impregnated with ammonium phosphate or phosphoric acid with at least one metal of germanium chloride and germanium oxide as germanium metal; drying the TiO2 powder impregnated with the at least one metal of germanium chloride and germanium oxide at 110°C for at least six hours; and firing the dried impregnated TiO2 powder at a temperature between 300°C and 500°C for at least two hours to prepare a Ti-P-Ge composite catalyst. |
