PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve withstand voltage characteristic by molding a polyethylene pellet satisfying a specified condition. SOLUTION: Power cables 2a and 2b are mutually connected by use of an electric insulating member 1. In the polyethylene pellet for molding the insulating member 1, the number of voids having outer diameters of 1-10μm is set to 200 or less per mm<2> of section, of voids appearing in an optional section of the polyethylene pellet, and the number of voids exceeding the outer diameter of 10μm is set to 50 or less per mm<2> of section. As the polyethylene constituting the polyethylene pellet, for example, high density polyethylene, middle density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, linear chain low density polyethylene, super-low density polyethylene or the like is used. From the viewpoint of workability, low density polyethylene and super-low density polyethylene are preferably used. Thus, an electric insulating member 1 excellent in withstand voltage can be provided.
