PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic sensitive material high in sensitivity and rapid processing aptitude by incorporating flat silver halide grains occupying >=50% of the projection areas of the total silver halide grains and having a specified aspect ratio and thickness to be used as host silver halide grains and some silver halide grains with silver halide protuberances having epitaxial joints and 2 kinds of specified compounds. SOLUTION: This silver halide grains contains the flay silver halide grains having an aspect ratio of >=5 and a thickness of <=0.1μm in at least >=50% of the projection areas of the total silver halide grains to be used as hosts some having the protuberances having epitaxial joints and this emulsion contains the compounds represented by formula I and II in which R1 is a sulofoalkyl group: R2 is an alkyl group or the like; each of X and X1 is a counter ion necessary to neutralize intermolecular change; each of n and n1 is a number necessary to neutralize the intramolecular charge; each of R11 -R14 is an alkyl group; and each of Z11 and Z12 is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to complete a benzo or naphtho ring.
