PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert a routine sentence into the routine message for each type of machine inside a portable telephone set, also to convert an input of a routine external sentence into a routine sentence and to reduce the frequency of transmitting data by reducing the number of transmitting codes when a user inputs a routine sentence and a routine external sentence, without being aware of the type of the pager of a sending destination. SOLUTION: When a user selects the type of machine of a sending destination while waiting or talking and inputs a routine sentence from a key input part 4 at the time of transmitting data to a pager, a CPU 3 stores a routine sentence code in a transmitting output buffer 63 in RAM 6 according to the selected pager type and transmits it to the pager through a radio part 2 and an antenna 1. At the time of a routine external sentence, the CPU 3 compares a routine message table 52 in ROM 5 with inputted character data and converts it into a routine sentence of the same meaning. If the user desires, the CPU 3 stores the routine sentence codes in the buffer 63 in the RAM 6 and transmits it and transmits the content of the buffer 63 when the routine external sentence, as it is, is transmitted.
