The device has a friction surface (3) connected to a bell crank lever (4) which is rotatable around a horizontal axis (7) running at right angles to the support arm (1). The friction surface is movable in the vertical direction in relation to the support arm. The rotational axis extends in the area of the point of intersection of the horizontal and vertical sides of the lever. An operating component engages with the lever and by which the friction surface connected to the horizontal side of the lever is pressed against the load from below.
