The sensor device has a sensor element (1) provided by a current loop network (2) with a number of current conductor elements (S1,S2,S3) and an evaluation device (3) for detecting the mechanical loading of the sensor element. The current conductor elements are closely spaced apart, so that they are brought into contact by an applied mechanical loading, the evaluation device supplying them with respective operating voltages (V1,V2,V3) and detecting a short-circuit path between them for indicating the mechanical loading.
