<p>This invention is a medical system for facilitating the removal of body matter including solids, liquids and gases from a body cavity. The system includes mechanical energy applied to the interior surface of a catheter (4), or other type of body drainage conduit to substantially inhibit the adherence of body matter to the catheter (4), thus minimizing the likelihood of blockage in the catheter (4). The mechanical energy may be provided by a rotating wire coil (32), reciprocating wire with collapsible cups (40), or other device to substantially inhibit the adherence of body matter to the catheter and promote flow into a drainage and disposal system.</p> |
