The invention concerns a device (1) for keeping ice-free at least given areas of a body of water, in particular a garden pond, preventing it from becoming iced-over. In order to keep labour and costs to a minimum, the device (1) comprises a float (2) for effective residual aeration of the water in freezing weather. To that end, the float (2) is provided with a mounting (4) for a water outlet directed towards the surface of the water.
