Isobutylene polymers having acrylic functionality

An acrylic functional polyisobutylene (I) in which at least 50 mole% of the repeat units are isobutylene contains at least one group of the formula -Si(R3-n)(-O-Si(R2)-G-C(O)-C(L)=CH2)n where each R is 1-14C hydrocarbyl or 1-10C halohydrocarbyl; G is 1-4C oxyalkylene; L is H or 1-4C alkyl; and n = 1 or 2. A method for preparing an acrylic functional polyisobutylene comprises reacting a polymer (II) in which at least 50 mole% of the repeat units are isobutylene and which contains at least one C-bonded silanol group with a silane (III) of the formula X-Si(R2)-G-C(O)-C(L)=CH2, where each R is CH3, L is H or CH3 and X is Cl.
