A speed measuring method relates to a railway vehicle provided with an antenna and travelling on a track with two rail (1, 2) wherein the rack is divided into track sections known as block sections being separated by electrical joints, whereby each joint being formed by two tuned blocks (TU.F1, TU.F3) and a predetermined track section being situated between them, whereby each of the tuned blocks allows a coupling of energy to adjacent sections of track. It is possible to detect at least two discontinuities in current or in voltage for the signal read from the aerial within the vehicle, as it passes through the first and the second tuned block regions (TU.F1, TU.F3), enabling the measurement of the speed of the vehicle as it moves through the section. The apparatus comprises means for generating at least two current or voltage signal discontinuities detected by an antenna disposed inside the vehicle moving on a track in immediate proximity of the tuned blocks of the same electrical joint.
|
