PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an easily usable germicide free from side action even after the use over a long period, producible at a low cost and giving no influence on the treating object and the fingers of the user by extracting soil collected from a specific stratum with water and using the extract as an active component. SOLUTION: Humic soil of ferns collected from a paleozoic stratum is extracted with water and the extract liquid is used as a component of the objective germicide. The extract preferably has the following properties: pH, 3.5±0.5; density, 1.003g/cm<3> boiling point, 103 deg.C; appearance, almost colorless and transparent; taste and odor, slightly acidic and odorless; amino acid content, <225μg/L; mineral content, 216.3ppm; number of live bacterial cells, <=300/g; E. coli group, negative, actue toxicity, none; skin irritation, slight. The germicide is extremely convenient for use because a perishable food can be sterilized by spraying the germicide to the food or immersing the food in the germicide, the post-treatment such as washing with water is unnecessary because the extract is harmless to the human body and the sterilized food can be taken as it is. Household cooking utensils can be sterilized simply by immersing washed utensils in the extract liquid. |
