PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recovery unit for ink jet head performing suction recovery action accompanied with idle suction in which reverse flow of ink to the nozzle jet port of an ink jet head is reduced at the time of idle suction. SOLUTION: The recovery unit for ink jet head comprises a cap member 14 having a cap surface covering the jet nozzle plane of an ink jet head releasibly and provided with a suction port 14b in the cap surface at a position lower than the lower end of a plurality of jet ports 11a made through the jet nozzle plane, a suction pump communicated with the suction port 14b and performing suction recovery operation of the ink jet head, and means for shifting the cap member 14 between an abutting position and a retracting position with respect to the jet nozzle plane. |
