This invention concerns a process and installation for coating a galvanized steel band, in particular. In that process, an adhesive agent in aqueous solution or another coating material or corrosion-resistant agent is first applied to the steel band inline. This agent is subjected to intermediate drying with only slight heating of the band by a maximum of 40 K and subsequently coated with the actual coating material without intermediate cooling. That coating is then dried through inductive hardening of the metal band and cured. Passage of the band can attain a speed of 200 to 300 m/min. This process and installation are intended to be operated inline with an upstream galvanizing installation.
