Cooling arrangement and process for tube support plates

Cooling tube support plates for the tube bundle in the convection section of a cracking furnace where a coolant gas flows over the support plates. Also claimed is an arrangement for the process, in which a pipe (9) connected to a source of coolant gas (7) outside the furnace extends through its wall (1) and under that edge (11) of the support plate (5) which faces into the flow of hot furnace gas (2). Outlet holes (10) for the coolant gas are provided in the surface of the pipe facing the edge of the support plate.
