Perimeter edges (6,7) demarcating the corner space (8) and running along the X and Y-axes respectively are shaped to produce an H or trapezoid compound connection and the Y-axis sides (7) in conjunction with edges (3) and (5) are shaped to make a tooth or prong connection. Three visible joins running from the point (25), spaced from the corner angle (9), extend respectively (22) to the corner angle, and the other two (23,24) extend to the stone perimeter (3,4) furthest from the corner space. The first and second joins (22,23) may visibly continue the first perimeter edge (6) demarcating the corner area and the first and extending third join (23) together continue the corner-demarcating perimeter side. In the laid pavement unit therefore, these three identical joins may be split between three single stones joining at the corner. Apart from the corner stones (1) the pavement unit with its singles may be made up of double stones corresponding to two stones joined together and trapezoidally joined to one another on their opposing shorter perimeter sides as opposed to their opposing longer sides which are toothed together. The stones forming a third double stone can be trapezoidally joined on their longer sides and toothed on their shorter sides.
