A drive for a rotary door uses an electric motor with a gearbox for a push-rod linkage. The open or closed loop control of the motor uses a microprocessor and an incremental transmitter is used for displacement measurement. The motor is an AC one and a programmable menu-controlled frequency converter (1) with an operating cycle is used. The mechanical connection between the gearbox and the door is an arm coupled to the gearbox output shaft at one end and to a sliding block at the other, sliding in rails on the door. The door is a swinging door. A similar system is used for automatically sliding doors, only with a belt coupling rather than a push-rod.
