<p>A cell culture vessel for use in an incubator has a cap (20) with an outer skirt (40) securable to the vessel neck (18), an inner skirt (46) peripherally within the neck and formed as an open-topped groove (50), and a central orifice pref. covered by a gas-permeable membrane (56). A plug (22) removably attachable to the cap to prevent gas diffusion into and out of the vessel has a top flange (26) integral with a cylindrical base (24), and lugs (60) extending from the flange undersurface and each with a proximal end cleat (66). The vessel is pref. a flask or a roller bottle, and the plug base can be removed from the cap by relative rotation in either direction and pulling. The plug is made e.g. of moulded PE, polypropylene or PVC, and the membrane is of PE, polycarbonate, acrylic copolymer or PTFE.</p> |
