摘要 |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glycol ether of end addition structure in high activity and in high selectivity while suppressing the formation of a by-product by reacting an alkylene oxide with an alcohol in the presence of a specific anion exchange resin catalyst. SOLUTION: An alkylene oxide such as ethylene oxide or propylene oxide is reacted with an alcohol such as a 1-6C aliphatic monohydric alcohol in the molar ratio of 2/1 to 10/1 in the presence of an anion exchange resin catalyst having a structural unit containing a quaternary ammonium group of the formula (R is an alkylene of 1-3 chain length; R1 to R3 are each a 1-4C alkyl or alkanol; X<-> is an anion; the benzene ring may be substituted with an alkyl or a halogen or condensed with another aromatic ring) at 50-200 deg.C under 1-50kgf/cm<2> to give the objective glycol ether. |
