PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize a dispersion in a transmission line even when an optical fiber whose dispersion fluctuates is in use. SOLUTION: The optical fiber transmission line is made up by alternately connecting a 1st optical fiber having a dispersion larger than an average dispersion Dav over the transmission distance and a 2nd fiber having a dispersion smaller than the average dispersion Dav . In this case, the average dispersion Dav is in an abnormal dispersion region over the transmission distance, the respective lengths Li , Li ' of the 1st and 2nd optical fibers are shorter than a soliton period Z0 (i is an optional natural number), and the relation between a difference that is larger between differences Di , Di ' which are respectively differences between the dispersion of the 1st optical fiber and the average dispersion Dav and between the dispersion of the 2nd optical fiber and the average dispersion Dav and the lengths Li , Li ' satisfies (Li +Li ') /Z0 <0.35/ 1+0.20 (which is larger in the Di and Di '/Dav )}.
